The Foodbank Singapore is proud to announce that we are a supporting organization of the Economist Impact’s third annual Technology for Change Asia happening March 20th and 21st 2023 at Marina Bay Sands, Singapore.
At The Food Bank Singapore, we are committed to driving social change through the use of technology. Over the years, we have made incredible strides towards reducing food waste and ensuring that those in need have access to nutritious food. Through the use of technology, we have been able to increase our efficiency and impact, salvaging over 550 tonnes of food per year.
The Food Bank Singapore has been a pioneer in using technology to address food insecurity with the goal of bringing more autonomy to our beneficiaries. One of our most novel initiatives is the Food Pantry 2.0, which serves as an automated platform to dispense emergency food aid 24/7 to those in need. Through this initiative, we identify clients in need and provide them with Bank Cards loaded with pre-loaded credits to receive food, both cooked ready-to-eat meals and non-perishable items from the vending machines placed in over 40 locations islandwide.
In addition, we believe in providing a sense of freedom and independence that often is absent from food insecure individuals and families. With the Bank Cards, beneficiaries can receive food from participating F&B outlets, like Subway, under the Feed The City Tap A Meal initiative.
We believe that by leveraging technology, we can address some of society’s most pressing challenges and create a more sustainable and equitable future for all. To find out more about the event: https://events.economist.com/technology-for-change-week/
